Of course, we’ve all daydreamed over cave houses with blue roofs, private plunge pools looking over the Aegean. But, Greece is so much more than that, have you ever considered Crete?
I’m a romantic soul who got engaged in the Cyclades. I said ‘Yes!’ on Milos and then we celebrated on Santorini. So, I understand the pull to get married & honeymoon in the more well-known Greek islands. That being said, having spent five weeks of our honeymoon on Crete, the largest of Greece’s many beautiful islands, I can tell you that the Cretan beaches & rugged landscapes have so much to offer.
Take this romantic real wedding, for example. Twenty-two guests assemble on a secluded private beach – something quite difficult to find on busy Santorini. The scenery is wild & fecund. With warm tones, the guests & groom dressed in light colors, herds of sheep crossing empty winding roads, olive branches sweeping across the dinner table…this is authentic Cretan bliss.
For those searching for a wilder Greek experience, with plenty of room to find your own private vineyard or villa, Crete beckons. And don’t worry, if you get married in Crete, Chantal and Bernd’s Santorini honeymoon is just a quick hop away.
