The floral wedding dress that we so adore happens to be quite approachable, found at the stylish retailer French Connection. Kudos to bride Thea for finding such a unique and truly magical gown for such an affordable price. (We shared some wedding-ready French Connection gowns & outfits not long ago, ourselves!)

The longtime couple’s wedding was filled with other practical yet magical details making their day oh-so-personal. The bride (a baker) made her own wedding cake, family & friends put together the natural bouquets & decor, the groom put his expertise into the food & wine while musician friends had the party grooving through the night.

Our Love Story

We went to the same school together and after flirting back and forth, and nearly getting together for a year, we finally made the leap from just friends to more.

After going travelling for a year, enduring a long distance relationship whilst at university, and living together in Hackney, we finally found ourselves 10 years later living in Stockholm. This felt like the perfect opportunity to bring all our wonderful friends and family to beautiful Sweden and celebrate our love and commitment.

The Wedding Venue & Vibes

The wedding was really a celebration of the venue, Sweden and all our amazing friends and family. The venue itself was a true expression of the Swedish countryside, and we were able to hold the ceremony in the forest before making our way to the beautiful wooden barn for the reception.

We relied upon, and wanted to show off, all of our friends and family’s amazing skills and the end result was a very personal and collaborative wedding. From making our own wedding cake (Thea, the bride, is a baker) to the groom planning and stocking the bar (Henrik, is a sommelier). Or the mother of the bride and a family friend creating all the flower bouquets and decorations (many picked from another family friends farm) to the bridesmaids hand-sewing all the cloth napkins. Or having a close friend perform the ceremony, to having another school friend perform the music. The wedding of our dreams wouldn’t of been possible without all the amazing hard work from the people who love us most.

Favorite Moments

We loved having the ceremony out in the forest and it just felt like a dream come true. We walked down the aisle together hand in hand and into married life in our own way. We loved utilizing the space, and to just be outside for nearly the whole day. From having the speeches on a raised wagon in the orchard to the playing of the classic outdoor Scandinavian game Kubb on the garden lawn.

The Photography

Jessica has a wonderful personality, dazzling creativity and incredible professionalism. She understood the look we wanted from day one (it helps being a fellow Scandinavian!) and did everything to make sure it was the day we wanted.

Advice to Other Couples

We did everything ourselves and looking back we underestimated how much work it would take to make it perfect. It was all worth it in the end but we would recommend having someone professional to help with the planning both before and on the day itself.

The Honeymoon

We decided to go away for a couple of nights to a wooden cabin in the Stockholm archipelago with a couple of close friends. It was the perfect place to unwind and relax and talk about the big day. Then we went on our first packaged holiday to the Dalmatian Coast in Croatia. It was lovely to stay at a peaceful adults-only resort and we would absolutely recommend it to anybody, such a special place.
