Most of our desert wedding inspiration on BM arrives from Morocco, filled with Berber tents & vibrant colors. Or else, The American Southwest, decorated with cacti & Mexican influence. Today, we drift longingly into The Empty Quarter: Emirati desert sands that fade in the lightest pastel sunsets, styled with neutral decor & dried grasses in taupe, nude & cream.
We’ve long wondered of the wedding potential of Dubai’s outer reaches (after all, our founder Elizabeth calls Dubai her home!) and this gorgeous inspiration captured by Krust Photography confirms what we’ve long thought: empty space, neutral tones & a guaranteed golden hour equals wedding magic.
The Dresses
This Desert Rose styled shoot serves as inspiration for the bohemian, down to earth bride with a slight obsession with gold. We decided to do two looks. One for the minimalist bride and the second for the bride who loves a little bit extra drama.
Our first look was the lovely rosa from Bo and Luca with a cape-like back and subtle white beading. A soft flowy look rounded off with statement earrings. Look two was the two-piece hand-beaded Amelie from Bo and Luca, with an abundance of detail and soft layering of rich silk.
The Florals
We wanted to portray the vastness of Al Qudra Desert desert and the fragility of life by using a combination of dried and fresh stems. We incorporated feathery grass, pampas, Lunaria seed pods and fluffy asparagus fern in neutral dusty tones rounded of with mother of pearl roses and white Lisianthus. The combination created a whimsical with a touch of romance.
The Cake
Our cake was two tiers of delicious chocolate buttercream. We incorporated dried and fresh stems and touches of gold to create this elegant masterpiece, a beautiful collective creation by Cakes by Zoya and Iris and May Florist.
The Styling & Decor
Our decor, carefully curated by Palmera Design and Events, includes a mix of rich textures, natural fibers and warm golden and burnt orange tones. A low seater table and leather poufs tied in with the bedouin desert theme. Small antiquities filled with spices and flowers on top of our macramé table runner gives an adventurous desert dweller feel. To round off this rustic look we added organic baskets filled with pampas and added handwritten calligraphy stationery in neutral tones.
