Whimsical Butterfly Inspired Wedding Ideas

At our current villa in Vietnam, the biggest butterflies I’ve ever seen flutter around the pool (I’m even watching them as I write this). Beautiful monarchs and these giant black ones with iridescent blue wings. Needless to say, I’m obsessed, just as I am entranced by this wedding editorial inspired by these whimsical winged beauties.

Butterfly rings, hair pins, necklaces and veils. Butterly name cards, paper goods, cake embellishments and even a butterfly gown! This wedding inspiration supplies so many butterfly-themed ideas you’re bound to be pinning a detail or two for your own wedding boards.

Set in a light & airy greenhouse space, this butterfly wonderland feels far from “theme-y” in fact the delicate winged details look as natural as ever. Supplying petit pops of color and intrigue, as seen here this trend could offer a pretty touch without seeming at all over-the-top.

“Oh my Butterfly” is a playful, unique and romantic interpretation of a classic butterfly motif. To emphasize this theme, we went with soft colors such as peach, yellow, pink and light blue. To create a cohesive and detailed concept and a wonderful garden atmosphere, we chose an old greenhouse, where palm trees of a nearby castle where stored during the colder months of the year and often butterflies are bred.

The motif of this shooting continues with the bridal gown, which is from famous German designer Kaviar Gauche and has 3D butterflies on it. The lightweight fabric also includes the shooting’s topic by reminding of sensitive and delicate wings of butterflies.

The wedding cake is also decorated with delicate butterflies, whose colors match with the golden cake plate. Because butterflies often will be found near flowers, we decided to go with a garden inspired colorful bunch of different flowers like garden roses, dahlias, Japanese anemones and crocosmia for the centerpiece and the bridal bouquet. We even included grasses that look a bit like butterfly probes.
