Across the color wheel, purple & yellow are meant to be together. Shades a citrine, sunflower & butter yellow splashed against lilac, lavender and violet always give us the happiest jolt of ‘Spring is Near’.

In a loft space in Upstate, New York, Verve Event Co. celebrates this marriage of opposite hues in the cheeriest way. Colorful florals, textiles, paper goods & cake fill the blank canvas of Kin Event Space‘s bright white walls photographed by Laura Rose. With juicy blooms, dramatic floral installations & vibrant cake it’s practically Vitamin D on film.

To tie the scene together, Louelle Design Studio did a masterful job setting the tone of the event with their modern & artful wedding stationery. Mixing watercolors and bold modern style the invitations deserve plenty of love in their own gallery space.

The shoot was set at Kin Event Space in Rochester, New York. It was a grain factory long ago and opened in February as an event venue. I love the blank canvas and historical touches afforded by this space.

A striking yet simple installation of forsythia branches, daffodils, mother of pearl and spray roses, and carnations framed our couple during the ceremony. Our bride’s bouquet included roses and peonies tied with a custom dyed silk ribbon.

On either side of our farm table sat a bench and bentwood chairs. On top, a mauve table runner sat beneath a sprawling centerpiece of forsythia, daffodil, flat fern, billy ball, and clematis. The contemporary placesetting included peach hemstitch napkins on top of gray stoneware and teak chargers. On the plate rested our combination menu and placecard. When guests opened their menus, a beautiful hand painted barn grew out of the menu like a pop-up book.

The bride’s gown was both romantic and understated, while the groom wore a chambray tuxedo with satin indigo lapels.

The fine art stationery was both playful and sophisticated. The invitation’s dark green outer cover was blind embossed with our couple’s names. The inside featured a custom watercolor and tiered inserts corresponding to our color palette.

Finally, the three-tier wedding cake incorporated a variety of artful pastry techniques. Wafer paper on the bottom mimicked the layered colors often seen in Kahn’s paintings. The second tier’s vibrant yellow echoed his bright pops of color, and sculpted fans rounded out the design.
