Colorful, Natural, Etsy-Filled Boho Wedding (With Donuts!)

If your guilty pleasure is wedding day-dreaming while you scroll through pages and page of Etsy bridal goods (sounds like I know what I’m talking about, right?) then this wedding is for you. With a natural, relaxed, backyard sort of feel, this boho wedding is absolutely filled with Etsy wedding goods.

From the wedding dress (with such a gorgeous back!) to the veil, and the groom’s bowtie to the bride’s jewelry, Elizabeth, bride DIYer extraordinaire found all her wedding dream goods on one of our personal favorite shopping centers, Etsy.

Shopping aside, how cute is the Lady and the Tramp style donut shot? Sharing a donut (maple bar for me) with your love? So adorable! And we’re smitten with the alternative send off with big pink balloons – which, with experience as a photographer, is far less terrifying to walk through.

Our Love Story

We met at our last church where we were on the worship team together.

We went to a lantern festival which had been on my bucket list for a long while. Once Phillip saw how much it meant to me, he planned an entire night that I had absolutely no idea about. On our lanterns that night we wrote, “Phillip & Elizabeth 5.21.14,” our favorite verses and some positive things we were declaring and believing for in our relationship.

After we sent the first one up, I turn around to Phillip on one knee and the ring of my dreams in a little wooden box. He said, “I know this has been a long time coming, but I love you with all of my heart and I want to spend the rest of my life with you so Elizabeth Grace Dominguez, will you marry me?”

As we had our moment, hundreds of lanterns filled the night sky and “hallelujah” played on the speakers in the background. It was the most magical night straight out of the best movie ever!

Oh and later I found out that a random “event photographer” who I could also swear should be an actor (haha) was really just there to capture the entire experience for us.

The Photography & Videography

Morgan and Brittany each had the specific styles we were going for. For us, it was a bonus that we knew their personalities and knew how they would capture the day. Morgan is creative in the way he takes photos- no two weddings are the same and we loved that. He does a great job capturing the couple and their heartbeat.

The Details

The style was definitely “so us”. The many diy decorations that filled the reception had our DNA all over it! We really wanted it to be a boho-chic, free, fun and timeless style.

Some favorite moments include sharing a single donut Lady and the Tramp style and running to the car (Elizabeth barefoot) at the end of the night knowing we were finally married. The car ride to our hotel was surreal we were legit freaking out in the best way.

Advice to Other Couples

Stay stress-free. We kept reminding people of this ourselves in the process of planning our own wedding – how unimportant any little detail is in the grand scheme of things. “As long as we end up married by the end of the night” was our final response to every vendor we spoke with. The planning process should be just as fun as the actual day- how truly exciting it is that you are planning your wedding day!

If you’re on a budget, get creative and think outside of the box. As you can see, Etsy was a huge contributor. For us, it was a win, win because we get the uniqueness, the better price (usually) and the benefit of helping local business!

We took a trip to Isla Mujeres and did an all-inclusive resort for our honeymoon. It was incredible and we highly recommend the destination and the idea of a trip altogether. It’s a great way to start a marriage off. One thing we definitely recommend is giving yourself a day or two in between. We left the Tuesday after our Saturday wedding and it was perfect because we got to catch up on some much-needed rest.
