We imagine there are a lot of couples out there right now figuring out what to do with your Spring wedding plans.

With social distancing recommended in most of the world & large gatherings banned, you may be suffering serious wedding postponement heartbreak, but we have an idea for you to keep your ceremony date: elope now, reception later.

Why? You don’t have to wait to get married! Celebrate with the one who matters most (your SO), take advantage of all the gorgeous & wildly fun elopement inspiration we have on the blog, find yet another gorgeous gown to wear (these affordable dresses & jumpsuits are ready to ship right now) and still keep your gorgeous wedding plans ready for a larger celebration later this year. As a recently married bride, I can tell you, I wish I had two weddings to dress for!

To give you even more reason to consider this route, we’re sharing an ultra-fashionable desert elopement of two stylish streetwear designers who flew from Australia for their retro-cool elopement. Ceremony amongst the cholla cacti, portraits at Las Vegas’ Neon Museum & a reception dinner at the classic In-n-Out Burger – this elopement it absolutely rad.

Our Love Story

We met through mutual friends after we had heard about each other for months. Van grew up in China and only moved to Sydney for University, we wouldn’t have crossed paths if it wasn’t for our creative pursuits.

We went away for the weekend to a little coastal town outside of Sydney, this is also the same town we went away to on our first holiday together. It was a cozy, rainy weekend that we spent cooking and inside with our dogs. He proposed one morning over pancakes! He designed the ring himself, a very daunting task for most, not for him.

Favorite Moments

The ceremony was lovely, we felt very in tune with each other.

It was nice to really be in the middle of nowhere, we drove the vintage Buick out to the Canyon and getting that up to highway speeds was a little daunting at first, worth a few laughs as most cars sped by us.

Enjoying a burger at the end of the day with Danette (our photographer) was the cherry on top.

The Dress & Attire

We wore what we felt showed our personalities, the dress was simple but had a very extravagant sleeve. The suit was designed by us, we did all the handy work ourselves through our business SSWEATSHOP. The embroidered traditional tattoo designs are done by our friend and tattoo artist Dan Coy. The suit was a nod to the western Nudie suits, with a modern approach.

Advice to Other Couples

Don’t stress, make choices that are what you both want and not what your mother-in-law’s sister’s friend prefers. It’s about you! That might make some others uncomfortable for a few hours, but it’s your day!

The Honeymoon

We started the trip a few weeks before in New York, so really the whole trip was the honeymoon. After the wedding, we spent a nice few quiet days in Pioneertown CA.
