We do, on occasion, find ourselves oohing and ahhing over Frida Kahlo-inspired weddings on Pinterest and the blog alike. And while sometimes, these editorials can come across a bit literal, today’s Oregonian styled shoot is an ode not just to Frida, but rather her masterpiece artwork.
Vibrant in color, Frida’s paintings were the catalyst for this Latin-inspired wedding editorial photographed by Devyn Spangler and styled by Peachy Keen Coordination. Based in the moody forests of the Pacific Northwest, we can understand why the team is dreaming in Southwestern technicolor. (Especially as a Seattlite who just married in Mexico myself!)
Among the colorful details, we’re dying for a few things: for one, the subtle Latin skull depicted via florals on the beautiful wedding cake – not a morbid idea in this sense, but rather a celebration of those in the afterlife. Another fabulous floral find is the bold asymmetrical flower crown filled with marigolds (a bloom practically essential for Mexican-styled events!)
A special shout-out must go to Brides for a Cause. Providing the beautiful gown in this inspiration, Brides for a Cause (located in Portland, Seattle & my hometown of Tacoma!) acts both as a fabulous place to find beautiful gowns at a lower price & a charitable organization donating to important local causes.
